Extended Practice - 'ADD.LIFE & EXPLORE' Extra Illustrations

The clients where happy with the main screen print, and where using it for the majority of their brand identity. They came back to me and asked if I could produce a few smaller illustrations to help support some of the content/information being delivered in the flyers and website.
They wanted some simple illustrations of a compass and a map to communicate more of the specific equipment used within the activities.

  •  I got some specific image references from the client - this is the sorts of compass and map they wanted designing.

  • I wanted to include some little symbols/icons of trees, hills and water on the map that represents areas of the screen print design.

  • I outlined the final drawings in pen and sent them over to the graphic designers I was working with on the project.
  • They digitized them, coloured them and organised the images onto the website and flyer information.
  • It was interesting to see how they chopped up elements from the prints and re used them for different parts of the content. Changing the aesthetic by adding flat colour to some parts of the designs.

Screen shots from the website:

  • Here you can see how my designs have been used within parts of the website. It was also used the same way within the flyers.
  • The designs work well to add a bit of fun to the content and help people engage more with the information.
  • It has been really beneficial for me to apply my skills to a project like this, using my illustration skills to help communicate a specific and informative theme. I enjoyed seeing how my character designs and drawing style can fit within this kind of context. It has helped me realise how I can use my different skills to for fill the specific needs of a clients idea. I feel like this project has helped give me more variation in the sorts of briefs and commissions I could be involved in.
