Thought After The Workshops..

The workshops have changed my initial ideas for the final prints. Mono printing made me realise how experimental printing can be, and how you can discover ideas within the process'. I assumed that I would be doing screen printing for my finals but I realised how restricted screen printing is, and that it is more of a way of finishing existing imagery, rather than producing new shape and line qualities. These new process have encouraged me to step out of my usual ways of working, and not just work towards a finalised pen based design.

I now want to explore what can be done with mono printing and lino printing. I will let the print process influence my designs, and see what interesting line qualities and other new visuals I can create based around my existing drawings and themes.

Looking back at all my roughs, I thought some of the peyote designs could translate well into mono print, using cut paper to create the green circles and then black mono type over the top for the details. Either in a brain shape, or randomly across the page or even full bleed across the whole page making an abstract pattern.
