(results from mono print workshop:)
In the mono print workshop I discover a process based around the way I quickly draw faces. I made bold shapes that sit behind an abstract line drawing of a face. I want to revisit this and explore how it could work based around my Huxley character.
- I will cut out simplified shapes that represent huxleys facial features.. Like his hair, his glasses, his pointy nose, his lips, the brain. But then also throw in some random squares and triangles to get an unusual/abstract feel.
- I will then print the cut out shapes in green, and then do black mono type over the top.
- Basically the same process as in the workshop but with shapes and quick/gestured lines that are more relevant to communicating Huxley.
- I think the process its self could commuicate him quite well because its looking at representing the same thing (huxleys face) in multiple ways. Like what he talks about in the 'doors of perception', that everybody interprets things (life/objects) in their own way and looks at them from a different angle.
- With this process I will be demonstrating how his face can be interpreted in a number of ways. And giving a crazy, abstract and psychedelic feel to them.
In these sketches I was exploring quick outlines that I could use to represent Huxleys face. Its really important the outlines are fast and immediate (this is what gives the visual quality im looking for). There wont be time to consider where the lines go I just need to do quick lines with strong gesture and hope for the best. Although I want the face outlines to be fairly random I think including subtle Huxley features amongst my face style will make them work so much better.
