Visual Narrative - Graphic novels

Mike Mignola

I remembered a scene from this graphic novel (Hellboy in hell).
  • It has old medieval style buildings that go up a cliff face. He creates a really atmospheric empty ghost town. Its erie and empty with big buildings towering up. I like the shape of the buildings and the solid black shadows he uses.

  • I really like this sketch, The way the buildings are structured together and look like they are sitting up on a hill. He only uses simple block shapes for them and they still look complex.

Anthony Johnston

  • This graphic novel called wasteland is set in a post apocalyptic word. The buildings in this novel are interesting and other worldly. The way they go up the mountain is really cool and works well for a fantasy city.
