I made positive from the lino print background, scanned it in and printed it out on printer paper. I had intended to make colour blends for each character but....
Ripped Screen!!!
Just as I was getting into the swing of the colour blends and had completed all the green ones. I managed to rip my screen!! Initially I thought this had messed it up an I would need loads more time exposing another screen. But I had the idea to take the green designs I had already printed, and alter them digitally to get the other variations I needed.
Making Colour Variations Digitally...
Orange for the Fox:
Green for the Crocodile:
Blue/Purple for George:
Changing the colours digitally worked perfectly, I thought I had messed up by ripping the screen but it has actually benefited me. I was much quicker to get colour variations this way. It has opened up my eyes to how photoshop can be used subtly with analog print techniques to get the effects you need.
- This is something I will consider in the future, how photoshop cold be used to achieve things and speed up the process.
- There where so many ways to alter the colours of the prints. Hue and saturation was enough to change the colour spectrums completely. And if this didnt get the results I wanted then you could simply change the image to grey scale, and then 'overlay' the colour you wanted onto it.
- The printed green colour could obviosly be left the same, but I was good to see how altering the contrast and brightness slightly enhanced the textures.
