Visual Communication - final analog giff

Final giff production:

  • I produced the frames using a light box and gradually changed the character on each frame into the position needed.
  • I did the outlines first and then applied the colour to them all afterwards to make sure they looked the same.
  • The process was interesting and helped figure out how animation could be created.

Final giff:

  • Im really pleased with how it turned out, I think the coloured pencil fill was a good decision and brings liveliness to the character.
  • I tried out some coloured backgrounds on it but I prefer the look of it floating on screen, it makes you focus on the shape of the character more rather than it being within a square.
  • I like the movement of the arms, I was unsure about how the rotation of the hands would work but it flows well. I made the shrug exaggerated and moved his shoulders right up which gives a bold gesture.
  • I think the facial expression works well in time with the shrug, and the change in eye shape was needed.
  • Full colour could have looked nice but might also have been to overpowering if was done in coloured pencil because would have been moving, I like how the the white parts are simple and bold and stand out against the soft pencil texture.
  • His feet and pants change size in the giff un-intentional, this was because of the light box process when creating the frames. I didn't follow the lines accurately enough but I don't think it matters to much.
  • I think I have successfully communicated the emotion I intended. I wanted the sasquatch to have a dopey and stupid characteristic which I think I achieved in the expression and movement.
