Study Task 2 - Artist Work - Guiliano Buttafuoco

Guiliano Buttafuoco's work really stood out to me, he uses big bold shapes and vibrant colours and uses it to create the atmosphere and environment he wants. He also uses character a lot in his work to tell the story, so its is beneficial to me to see how he uses different gestures and compositions to explain the situations.

These illustrations are a story about a refugee olympic athlete, they are a sequence of illustrations but each individually gives information about it. The composition and camera angle of the illustrations is really well considered, it makes them interesting and emphasises what it is happening in each scene. I love his simple character design it works well to explain, and lets you focus on the entire composition and not just the details in the drawing. I noticed there was very little use of white in the images and was purely bold full bleed colour, this helps to create such a vibrant atmosphere to the work.
